How to use it

  1. Pick your key — the root note of the chord or scale you're working on.
  2. Choose what to see — a scale, a full-neck chord (every chord tone), or one of the five movable CAGED shapes.
  3. Read the dots — the filled dot is the root; the rest are the other tones. Flip to intervals to see the scale degrees.

What is the CAGED system?

Every major chord can be played as one of five movable shapes, named after the open chords they come from: C, A, G, E, and D. Slide a shape up the neck so its root lands on your key and you've got that chord in a new position. Learn the five shapes and you can play any chord anywhere on the neck, and you'll start to see how the scales connect the shapes together. That's the whole point of CAGED.
